Stellar Blade, a game that’s all about stunning visuals and heart-pounding and engaging combat. Imagine a world torn apart by disaster, where monstrous creatures called Naytiba roam freely, and you step in as Eve, a brave and beautiful member of the 7th Airborne Squad. And your mission is to fight these beasts and uncover the secrets of a world gone awry. I know, you’ve probably heard this story before.

One of the first things you’ll notice about Stellar Blade is its breathtaking design. The characters and monsters are beautifully crafted, making every moment feel like you’re part of a living painting. A bit of exaggeration, but the game on the PS5 is amazing to look at even at 60fps. Director Hyung-Tae Kim has truly created something nice here… creating a game that’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the gaming soul.

Combat. Drawing inspiration from games like Sekiro, Stellar Blade’s combat system is all about timing and defense. Each battle is a test of your skills, keeping you alert and engaged. Plus, the Beta Skills add an extra layer of strategy, forcing you to think carefully about when and how to unleash your special moves. Hacking and slashing here is not the way. Planning out your next move is the correct approach here.

But combat isn’t the only thing Stellar Blade has to offer. There are about 48 types of Naytiba monsters to face, each with its own unique abilities and challenges. They do kind of feel like they all blend into one at some point. Which is not a bad thing by the way. And let’s not forget about the boss fights—intense, adrenaline-pumping battles that will have you on the edge of your seat and at times wanting to break the controller.

While Stellar Blade does include some RPG elements and areas to explore, they can sometimes feel a bit repetitive. Blend into itself like the Naytiba. However, if you take the time to look around, you’ll find hidden collectibles and engaging encounters that make exploration worthwhile. Slowing things down and trying to explore a little can help. But you might not find much.

If you’re lucky enough to play Stellar Blade on a PS5, you’re in for a treat. Developed by Shift Up, the game runs smoothly, allowing you to choose between a locked 30 or 60 frames per second for a seamless gaming experience. Some might get offended at those fps numbers but the 60fps is more than enough.
