Warzone Verdansk ranking

Warzone Verdansk is Possibly the Best Warzone Map to Date

I actually started writing this article pooping on Verdansk and making a case for why it’s not a good map. But as I was writing it, I came to the realization that it probably is the best map Warzone has ever had. Nostalgia for sure has a bias in the matter but it’s a lot more than that.

So what makes Verdansk such a good map? Let’s start with POI’s (points of interest). What made Verdansk such an amazing map was the various memorable POI’s it had. From stadium and superstore, to Promenade, Airport, Farmland, and of course Dam. These are all memorable locations and something every map that came after has lacked.

Name a POI stands out in Caldera. Name one in Al Mazrah. Yea, you were probably able to name one or two. But do they stand out? Dropping there, did it feel right? Was the fighting organic, smooth, maybe even exciting? Probably not. The problem with recent Warzone maps is that the POIs have either been too far apart, too close together, or it just felt like a copy and paste of other areas smashed together. Generic.

Nostalgia one hundred perfect also plays a role in this. It was a game where all your friends were at, in a time where nothing else was going on in the world. So those memories were created and it’s hard to look past it. But even with that these recent maps, especially Al Mazrah and Urzikstan, they have felt lacking in character and feels almost the same. With that said Al Mazrah was pure garbage and Urzistan is much better. Kudos to Caldera on being the second best map in the game.

It’s funny mentioning Verdansk POIs because at that time people loved to complain about them. But now looking back they made that map so great.

That’s the post. Don’t @ me. Stay mad. Verdansk is king… for now.
